What happens when your Tire Pressure Light Blinks? The Tire Pressure Sensors use a Battery to communicate with the Car. If the TPMS Light is Flashing, it could mean that the Battery in the Sensor is Dead. A TPMS Warning Light that illuminates solid means that one or more of the Tires has low Air Pressure. If the light flashes for 60-90 seconds and then illuminates solid. This is a signaling that there is a problem with the TPMS system. It is very likely that one or more of the sensors are not communicating with the vehicle. Sometimes the Spare Tire can the Problem. On some Manufacturer's the Spare Tire has a TPMS sensor.
Do I Need New Tires? Check both sides of the Tire for Damage. This could be in the form of chunks of missing Rubber, deep abrasions from hitting curbs, or a bulge in the Sidewall. A Bulge in the Sidewall is likely related to a Broken Cord inside the Tire. This is a serious condition. This can lead to a Tire Failing. Any chunking larger than a dime is bad. Larger Cracks or divots may be a sign of hitting a curb or an impact with a Road Hazard. No Tire Safety Check is complete without measuring the Tread. All Tires have a bar in the grooves that indicates 2/32nds of an inch. If this bridge in the groove is level with the top of the Tread, then you know it is time to change your Tires. You can also measure the Depth of the tread using a penny. If you can see all Lincoln’s head, then the Tire needs replaced. Also check the Tread for areas of Uneven Wear.
