Why do I need to Flush My Brake Fluid?

Why do I need to Flush My Brake Fluid?

Brake fluid is “hygroscopic,” which means it actively attracts moisture from the air. This is often touted as the main reason to change your brake fluid. Many of parts of your braking system are made of metal. Flushing the brake fluid can prevent corrosion and failure of those metal components. Also because it attracts moisture water boils at a lower point than brake fluid. So as more moisture is absorbed in the brake fluid it in turn lowers the boiling point of your brake fluid. During hard braking the brake system creates a lot of heat and can boil the brake fluid. This causing the brake fluid to turn from a liquid into a gas. We all know gas is not good in hydraulic systems and will cause your pedal to drop to the floor. When this happens you will lose the ability to Stop. Come in and let our Trained professionals test your brake fluid and system for Free

My Car is Overheating, what do I do?

My Car is Overheating, what do I do?

At the first sign of overheating, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows: Doing so decreases the load on the engine and helps it cool off. Turn the heater all the way hot and blower fan on High: Doing this will utilize the heater core to help dissipate some of the heat from the Engine.  Try not to ride your brakes: In stop-and-go traffic, crawl along slowly, on little more than an idle, rather than moving up and then braking repeatedly. Brake drag increases the load on the engine and makes it heat up. If traffic is crawling, move up only when the gap between you and the vehicle in front of you gets too large. If you think that your vehicle is about to boil over, drive to the right-hand side of the road, open the hood, and sit there until things cool off: Remember, don’t open the radiator cap under these circumstances, and if your engine has boiled over, don’t add water until the engine is quite cool again. If the vehicle contin ... read more
